Candy and Wine

Sitting here with you,

As the rest of the world passes us by

Probably more than we could ever realize

*

Years from now

Will I still see your pretty face

In my memory

Will you even recall my name

In all the years that come and go as the clocks tick away

*

The sparkle of the dresses you wear

Burning a hole in my mind

A lifetime from now

*

A planet different to the one we once walked on together

Further away than the moon is from the Earth

More distant that the sun is from Saturn’s icy ring

*

Why would you remember

There were years I forgot to recall

But such a pretty smile

Burned a hole from within my memory once more

*

I can’t recall the sound of your voice

But I still feel the warmth of your presence next to mine

And how you were sweeter than candy

And more lovely than wine
