The Man Who Wanted to Change the World

An elected leader

Lead his people to many victories

Shared the wealth amongst the land

More so than ever before

The more he gave the more they wanted

The more they had, more was never enough

His bounty of plenty

Destroyed by the greed of the well fed mouths he wanted to be free

 •

Another place where greed also ruled supreme

Where those who had plenty had more than anyone

They numbered a few

While a few million died through various means – slaughter, exhaustion, or starvation

Those that smiled didn’t care

So long as the banquet was on their table

 •

An often outspoken woman

Who lead a campaign of change

Was on course to change the lives for many

Regardless of sex, age or any other barriers of discrimination

Found dead before her time

Victim of an assassination

 •

A man like me

Not in a place to try and change the world, at the level any of them ever could

If I was, I would give it my best shot

And hope my place in history ended better than those that came before
