One man alive at a time
It was encouraged not to tell those who hurt you how you feel
Best to keep it all inside and let it pass
And place over it a tight seal
Another born a lifetime apart
No way they’d ever know each other
The world he is living in now
You’d think was quite another
For he was told it was fine to say what was on his mind
As by now it was believed if you let those who hurt you what they had done human nature would turn out kind
One of them felt empty and alone
And the other felt quite the same
Because despite a lifetime of progress, some outcomes remain the same
Though no one may know how we feel
Those that do may simply hold that open seal
Knowing what they do, gives them even greater power
Over the love of another
