A Queen’s Poem

70 years on the throne,

That’s a lot of time that’s come and gone,

And there are those who say you should go,

But many more who for your party have put on a show,

No matter what you are a still a worldwide giant,

You resemble a country that despite it’s problems remains defiant,

For some of us, you’ve been there longer than we’ve been alive,

So many events big and small,

So much happiness, with a few tears that inevitably fall,

Changes in fashion, political shifts

You’ve not been unaffected but you’re still far from rejected,

As always the streets are filled with those who show their support and thanks,

From all walks of life, And now the time is right,

To toast to the last seven decades, and all the memories that will ring through the ages
