The Club Act

Every single Friday night,
You and the band have kept it tight,
For nine whole years,
While the audience watch as they drink their beers,

Some play pool in the back room,
Others dine in the room next door,
Often a hardcore crowd gather near the stage,
Usually twelve or more,

Your dreams of world acclaim, seem as far today as they did yesterday,

Tomorrow you’ll get the bus to your menial job,
Just to be able to pay your way,

But tonight as you gave it your all,
They came out of the pool room and the dining hall,

They stopped drinking as they all stood on the stage floor,
All wanting to see some more,

At that moment you star shined bright,

It was glimmering more than anyone else in the world
In front of those 60 people tonight
