Slow Burn
I packed up all my dreams, And locked them all away, I vowed never to try again, Not after I failed that way,
For years I never looked back, I kept my desire at bay, I wouldn’t let it rise again, I always turned away,
But the fire still burned, And slowly the flames rose, Higher than way back when, Now I’ve vowed I’ll try again,
I may be much older, I may even be just a tiny bit wiser, I now embrace the warmth in that fire, Today is the day I stand higher.
