Go Nuts

If I had a time machine, It would be in my top five, To visit that bakery, The one near the dive

Those old days when it was great to be alive,
They were the best doughnuts I’ve ever eaten, In any time or place, Nowhere today can match the look of joy their taste put on my face

Some think I’m silly.. Even insane, They say It’s only a snack, Your priorities are simply out of wack

But to all who went there, And recall the jam dripping down their chin, After they took that first bite in, Know the score

As well as they try, And some come close that I don’t deny

But it’s the truth for sure, They just don’t make doughnuts like that anymore
